Our story

The longterm investment strategy of ECE European City Estates focuses on prime High Street properties and historical buildings in the very city center. Driving momentum for acquisitions are the passion for exceptional architecture and the story behind each building. Our corporate philosophy lies in the dedication to quality, a unique management approach and creation of added value in every aspect. Each of our buildings reflects this philosophy, in the way how the buildings are managed and operated, as well as in the respective tenancy mix.

ECE European City Estates is a group of companies owned by the Austrian Humer Private Foundation. ECE European City Estates was founded in 1997 with its main target to invest in the real estate markets of the CEE region. First investments were made in Austria, Hungary and Czech Republic. Since 2001 the focus widened and non-real estate investments were carried out occasionally, too. ECE Group today comprises of more than 20 group companies . The activities of ECE Group stretch to Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Estonia, and Ukraine. The Group maintains offices in Vienna, Austria, Prague, Czech Republic, and Vilnius, Lithuania.

Palac ARA

Palace ARA is one of the most striking retail properties in the Prague’s shopping heart. The building is located at the corner of 28.rijna and Perlova Street. Built in 1931 in functionalist architectural style and conceived to be the department store of those times, styled in an “American” manner. Originally the department store was known as ARA – named by the owner A. R. Amschelberg - and later became “Perla”. In 1993, the luxury department store was converted into an office building with a bank branch on the ground floor. ECE acquired the property in 2014 with intend to restore the old ambiance and glamour of the building. The renovation of the building façade was successfully done in 2015 and now proceeding with the further refurbishment of interior of the building.

Ehlen House was constructed in 1872-73 and named after famous architect Otto Ehlen, who projected the building and has applied progressive concrete technology.
